GUWAHATI: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rainfall on 29 and 30 April across Assam and Meghalaya.
The weather department has shared its weather forecast for the next two days according to which there would be isolated heavy rainfall in the regions of Assam and Meghalaya.
According to the IMD rainfall accompanying thunderstorms, gusty winds and lightning are likely to continue in the northeastern region on Friday 29 April and Saturday 30 April.
The weather forecast of IMD also informs that isolated heavy rainfall is very likely in the northeastern state of Arunachal Pradesh.
In addition minimum and maximum temperature in Assam's Guwahati is very likely to remain around 22 degrees Celsius to 34 degrees Celsius respectively.
Earlier on Wednesday, IMD predicted rain along with wind and thunderstorms in different regions of the northeast. Hailstorms are likely on Thursday 27 April over Meghalaya and Assam as per the IMD weather forecast.
Light rainfall accompanying thunderstorms under the influence of western Disturbance is expected over Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir on Thursday 28 April, Friday 29 April and Saturday 30 April.
It may be mentioned that Northeast India has been witnessing severe rainfall for the past few weeks causing extreme loss of life and property.
In several parts of the region, there have been massive floods due to continuous rainfall which is expected to prevail in the upcoming days.
Moreover, due to rain accompanying thunderstorms and gusty winds, many have lost their lives in Meghalaya's Shillong and different districts of Assam.
Reports claim rain accompanying winds has also uprooted trees in different areas of the northeastern region which ultimately resulted in severe damages to property.
