The largest freshwater lake in the Northeastern states "The Loktak

aquatic plants but this lake is called a birder paradise as birds species such
as Northern hill myna, Black kite, East Himalayan pied, Lesser eastern jungle
crow, Kingfisher, Burmese pied myna and Lesser skylark and many such other rare
species are to be found. The best possible time to visit this lake is during
the summer season because one could experience its profound serenity in nature
when the water level goes down.
Depicting the royalty of the former rulers of Manipur since 33 AD, the
Kangla fort is an epitome of impressive heritage located in the capital city of
Manipur, Imphal. Occupied by the British in 1891, this old palace withstood
several attacks and invasions and is one of the most attractive tourist spots
in Manipur.
The battle which is termed as the Normandy of the East witnessed the bloods
and death battles of more than thousands of British and Indian soldiers while
defending India from the brutal and cruelties of the Japanese forces. Located
in a small locality of Imphal, Dewlahland, this war cemetery holds the names of
more than 1600 young soldiers each written aesthetically to mark their heroic
deeds and sacrifice they did to protect the country.
A Vaishnav temple dedicated to the lord Sri Sri Baikunth Nath for believing
to give an eternal peace to the departed soul
of Thounaojam Kunjakishwor Singh, lies on one of the prime location next to the
Kangla fort. It has two gold plated domes, a paved court and two large
congregation hall constructed back in 1846 during the reign of Maharaja Nara
Singh and rebuilt again by Maharaja Chandrakriti in 1876.
This beautiful white Manipuri temple, reconstructed in Gothic
style for roof lies in the lap of nature in Jiriban which is approximately 12.5
kms away from the capital city, Imphal. The surrounding of the temple is
peaceful forest area with a mesmerising and enchanted view. This Sanamahi
temple is considered to be one of the oldest temples of Asia.
One of the most artistically decorative temple constructed using
bricks and white cement sets a visually unique retreat for the eyes with a dome
shaped roof. The roof has different portrayals of Lord Krishna's life
activities through paintings.
The Singda dam is the highest mud dam in the world. A drive away
to withstand its picturesque scenic landscapes along the lush green paddy
fields in the remote place of Manipur valley could lead the traveller to an
imaginary land.
Famous for its profound lilies found only in the valley, Dzukou
valley is one tough mountaineering trekking spot in the North-eastern region of
India. It is a beautiful valley shared by two neighbouring states Manipur and
Nagaland. This valley is rich in flora and fauna and is home to Blyth's tragopan,
which is the state bird of Nagaland.
This limestone cave with a delicate design from the natural slow
tripping water over the roof could accommodate 100 odd people at a time. It is
located in a small locality called Hungpung. This natural yet man made cave is
an ideal place for all the nature beavers which is yet to be explored fully.
This market whose origins dates back to the 16th century is run by married Manipuri women. This market specially favors the women as the stalls or the shop gets on to the next generation of Manipuri women. It deals with all kinds of households items and textiles to different handicrafts. This market of matriarchs is flourishing even in supplying different types of food ranging from authentic food to local groceries. This market in Imphal has a different vibes of historic and cultural heritage of Manipur.
