IMPHAL: Union Home Minister Amit Shah has dedicated the cornerstone for the Rani Gaidinliu Tribal Freedom Fighters Museum in Manipur's Tamenglong district.

Amit Shah, who was present at the foundation-laying event, stated that the museum honouring tribal independence heroes will serve to unite the community.

"Museums dedicated to the Tribal Freedom Fighters are now being built around the country to help unify our society," stated home minister Amit Shah. "The urban majority is unaware of the tribal community's hardships and contributions during India's freedom," Shah continued. "This is why Prime Minister Modi chose to build similar museums in various states," Shah explained.

Gaidinliu was a spiritual and political leader of the Naga people leading an uprising against British control in India. She adopted her cousin Haipou Jadonang's Heraka religious organisation when she was 13 years old.

Later, the campaign became a political movement aimed at driving the British out of Manipur and the neighbouring Naga lands. She was regarded as an embodiment of the Goddess Cherachamdinliu by the Heraka religion.

Gaidinliu was caught when he was 16 years old in 1932, and the British overlords condemned him to life in jail. In 1937, Jawaharlal Nehru saw her in Shillong Jail and vowed to work for her freedom. Nehru bestowed the title of "Rani" ("Queen") on her, and she became known as Ra in the local community.

The government has spent Rs 195 crores, of which Rs 110 crore has indeed been released, according to the federal home minister. Gujarat, Jharkhand, Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, and Manipur will all have museums dedicated to tribal liberation warriors.

"This will develop patriotism in the children." PM Modi has worked on a variety of tribal development projects, according to Amit Shah. The national government had previously stated that Mount Harriet in Kalapani, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, will be renamed Mount Manipur in honour of Manipur's liberation heroes. Maharaja Kulchandra Dhwaj Singh of Manipur was detained at Mount Harri, along with 22 other independence warriors.
