Assam Rifles cracks down on contraband worth crores along Indo-Mynamar border

The force seized 1.3 lakh WIY tablets worth nearly Rs.6.5 crores from a Burmese national.

Imphal: Assam Rifles recovered a huge cache of narcotics substance along the Indo-Myanmar border.

The operation was carried out by the forces in Haolenphai village, Manipur, located nearly 112km away from Imphal. The force seized 1.3 lakh WIY tablets worth nearly Rs.6.5 crores from a person identified as a Burmese national. The accused was apprehended and the recovered items was handed over to police. As per reports, the operation was carried out by Assam Rifles Jawans deployed in Moreh region.

The twitter account of Assam Rifles posted saying,

''Assam Rifles on 13 October, intercepted and recovered 1.3 lakhs WIY tablets (worth approx Rs 6.5 Cr) from Haolnphai village (Tengnoupal District) near Indo Myanmar border in Manipur. Carrier and recovered contraband handed over to the police.''
