Bollywood Actress Richa Chadha Expressed Anguish on Manipur Violence

IMPHAL: Bollywood actress Richa Chadha has expressed concern about the recent acts of violence in Manipur. Taking on twitter, Richa shared a post of Bijou Thaangjam and captioned it as “Manipur is burning!”

Linthoingambi Lin Laishram, a model, actress, and businesswoman from Manipur, was quoted a few days ago as being frightened about the outbreak of violence in her native state and feeling powerless. She argues that people are having difficulty obtaining basic necessities like water, and she challenges Bollywood's silence on the topic.

On June 13, 9 people were killed and 9 were injured in a new outbreak of violence in Manipur after miscreants opened fire and carried out arson attacks in Khamenlok village, Kangpokpi district. According to reports, miscreants set fire to multiple houses in Khamenlok hamlet and injured several persons in Gobajang, Tamenglong district.

The situation in the turbulent northeastern state remains precarious, with security officers patrolling high-risk regions to prevent a collapse in law and order. Meanwhile, in the previous 24 hours, fire guns and 63 ammunitions have been collected from the districts of Tengnoupal and Imphal-East.

So far, 1040 guns, 13,601 ammunition, and 230 various types of bombs have been seized, according to Manipur's security advisor, Kuldiep Singh.

Meanwhile, the East Imphal District Administration published a notification on June 14 stating that the curfew hours would be reduced from 5 a.m. to 6 p.m. to 5 a.m. to 9 a.m.

During the present conflict in Manipur, which has already cost many lives, a total of 63 fire arms and ammunitions have been recovered in the last 24 hours from the districts of Tengnoupal and Imphal-East.

According to Manipur's security advisor, Kuldiep Singh, a total of 1040 guns, 13,601 ammunitions, and 230 various types of bombs have been seized thus far. Curfews have been relaxed for 15 hours in Imphal West, Imphal East, Thoubal, and Bishnupur areas, 12 hours in Kakching and Pherzawl Districts, and 8 to 10 hours in neighbouring hill areas. Six additional hill districts have no curfew.
