The story of a nine-year-old girl crying over the cutting of two trees that she had planted in Manipur has gone viral. The little girl, Elangbam Valentina Devi, had cried over the matter of two saplings being cut under a road expansion programme. Apart from the noble cause that the school going girl cried over, she is in news for another reason now as the Chief Minister of the state has announced that the little girl will now be the new ambassador for Cm’s green mission.

A Facebook post made by CM N Biren Singh along with a copy of the official order has cleared all clouds of doubt that had rise due to the spread of the news. For some this was beyond expectation and for some this news was totally unheard off.

Reportedly, it was an incident of last Saturday when the little girl discovered that the two saplings she had planted near her house in Kakching district of Manipur are being cut down. The saplings she had planted, by now, had turned into two beautiful trees but were cut down as a part of a road expansion project. This hurt her so much so that she could not stop but cry aloud and was unstoppable even after her family and other came to console her.

This incident of the little crying girl caught the attention of Manipur CM N Biren Singh and he did not waste a minute in declaring her the ambassador for his green mission. Not only this, but the little girl was also assured by the government that she will be allowed to take part in a plantation drive.
