Complete lockdown extended till August 6 in Manipur

As per the order, there shall be complete lockdown and Deputy Commissioners will issue an order imposing curfew in their districts.

Guwahati: In view of rising Covid-19 cases in Manipur, the state Authorities have extended the complete lockdown in the entire state for another seven days till August 6 "until further orders."

Following the report of detecting infection of Covid-19 amongst a few people who have no history of travel outside the state, the state had been witnessing complete lockdown from 2 pm of July 23.

Manipur Chief Secretary Dr. J Suresh Babu, who is also the chairperson of the state executive committee of the state disaster management authority, issued an order regarding the extension of complete lockdown on Thursday.

As per the order, there shall be complete lockdown and Deputy Commissioners will issue an order imposing curfew in their districts.

The list of activities that were permitted during the complete lockdown were also announced.

Notably, Manipur reported its first COVID-19 death on Wednesday as a 56-year-old man succumbed to the disease at the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences.
