Joint operation busted illegal drugs factory in Manipur

A joint operation carried out by a team of Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB), Narcotics and Affairs of Border (NAB) and the Lilong police busted a major illegal drugs manufacturing unit and made seizures worth around Rs 82 crore in Manipur

IMPHAL: A joint operation carried out by a team of Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB), Narcotics and Affairs of Border (NAB) and the Lilong police busted a major illegal drugs manufacturing unit and made seizures worth around Rs 82 crore in Manipur on Sunday. Based on specific inputs, the joint team conducted a raid where they uncovered a manufacturing unit. As much as 54.685 kg of brown sugar was seized during the operation, stated a press release. It is learned that the raid was conducted at the house of a woman identified as Imem Bibi at Lilong Chingkham Makha Leikai in the Thoubal district of Manipur.

One Yumkhaibam Mustafa was caught red-handed at the scene while allegedly preparing brown sugar, the press release informed. Apart from the drugs, the raiding team also recovered various other raw materials used in the making of drugs, including chemicals, utensils, gas burners, cylinders and mobile phones. The accused who was arrested from the site was handed over to Lilong police for further legal action.
