Manipur: 12 Covid-19 patients released after recovery; 70 cases active

Manipur has registered 108 Covid-19 patients so far; Recovery rate has continued rising upwards

Guwahati: As many as 12 Covid-19 patients -- 5 male and 7 female -- were discharged from the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) on June 3 after they tested negative for the pathogen. Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang, the Additional Director and Spokesperson of the Manipur Health Department said that yesterday, 6 persons (5 males and 1 female) were confirmed as Covid-19 positive  While 2 of the latest cases are from the Kakching district in the state who had returned from New Delhi, 2 others are from Tamenglong district and returned from Chennai. Two others -- from Thoubal and Kamjong -- are Delhi and Mumbai returnees.

"They will be shifted to the Covid Care facility at RIMS. All necessary control measures including containment and contact tracing are underway", Dr Khoirom said.  Meanwhile, the total number of recovered cases has increased to 38, while at the same time, the recovery rate has jumped upwards to 35.15 %. 

Meanwhile, India's tally of coronavirus cases has crossed 2.16 lakh mark after 9,304 people tested positive for the virus in the last 24 hours -- a record high. The total cases in the country have rocketed upwards to 2,16,919, including 6,075 deaths, the Union Health Ministry's data revealed earlier today.
