Manipur : 43 Cadre Surrenders Arms In Imphal

19 arms, 17 hand grenades, 5 handheld sets, one Kenwood set, 9 PEK, 5 IED and 209 ammunitions were put forward before the CM

IMPHAL : A bright day for the state of Manipur, as 43 cadres from varied outfits surrendered their arms and ammunition infront of the CM. 

The process came into affect just after a day of Union Home Minister's announcement, declaring Manipur as an insurgent-free state. The surrender was initiated at the home coming ceremony held in Manipur's first Rifles Banquet Hall in Imphal on Saturday.

Manipur Chief Minister, N Biren Singh was the chief guest for the event. He expressed his gratitude to all the 43 cadres belonging to several different insurgent group.

The cadres as mentioned by the CM include 13 KYKL, 5 PLA/RPF, 5 KCP(N), 11 KCP (PWG), 5 UNLF, 1 PREPAK, 2 PREPAK (PRO), 1 NSCN (U). While attending the event and surrendering their arms, the cadres were dressed in camouflage outfits.

N Biren Singh while addressing the event, appealed all the surrendered cadres to join hands with the administration and uplift peace in the society. The CM urged them all restore tranquility and assured to offer new lease of life.

He claimed all sort of necessary arrangements for the purpose of rehabilitation of the cadres by the state administration. Security will be provided to the surrendered cadres, said CM N Biren.

The gala surrendering event was conducted after Shah's announcement regarding the insurgent free Manipur. Amit Shah concluded his visit on 6th of January, Friday.

It is worth noting that, as many as 69 militants from various insurgent outfits and groups, gave up the route of violence and collaborated with the national mainstream in the homecoming ceremony of 2022.
