Manipur: Bomb Blast In Imphal, One Injured

IMPHAL: At Thangmeiband, close to the Manipur legislative assembly in Imphal, a massive explosive device detonated. The explosion happened in Imphal, Manipur, late on Sunday night.

An official source reported that a labourer was hurt in the explosive detonation. A hand grenade was thrown towards the residence gate of an assistant engineer for the Manipur public works department at Thangmeiband Muchi Khul Maisnam Leikai, which is around 800 yards from the state assembly, by unidentified individuals riding two-wheelers.

According to the source, Manipur PWD engineer Nandeibam Ingocha was not at home when the incident occurred. Bikash Kumar, a labourer from Bihar who is 33 years old, suffered injuries to his left leg as a result of the explosion, and bomb splinters also struck a vehicle.

According to the source, Bikash was employed as a labourer in the engineer's house, which was under construction.

The injured person was transported urgently to the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences in Imphal, where the medical professionals caring for him reported that the injured man's condition was not very serious.

After throwing the grenade, the miscreants succeeded in fleeing the scene. Thus far, no underground group has taken responsibility for the attacks. Imphal West District Police reportedly dispatched a squad to the scene to investigate the incident.

A similar bomb explosion was recorded from the state of Manipur on 10th of February, Friday at around 9:45am. The episode took place in India-Myanmar’s border near Tengnoupal district. 

A Border Road Task Force (BRTF) worker was injured during the blast. As per police information, the explosion occurred near Border Pillai 81, located in Kwatha Khunou area. The injured victim was identified as Jerom who is 36 years old and was working in the ongoing fencing task near the international border. 

As per sources, Jerom hails from Jharkhand, India. He received multiple injuries in his body including face, legs and abdomen. Sources revealed that, Jerom was immediately admitted in the Moreh hospital, later, he was transferred to Imphal.
