Manipur boy bags outstanding craftsperson award for mobile phone tripod made of bamboo

Konsam Romesh Singh has been presented Merit Award for Outstanding Craftsperson of the Year 2019-20. DoNER Minister congratulated Singh for his innovative mind.

Imphal: Konsam Romesh Singh from Awang Jiri Maning Leikai in Imphal West district has caught the attention of many. It is particularly his innovative crafts made out of bamboo that has grabbed peoples' attention.

He bagged the Merit Award for Outstanding Craftsperson of the Year 2019-2020 award for the unique mobile phone tripod made out of bamboo.

DoNER Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh took to Twitter to congratulate the young talent and posted a tutorial video on how he designed the bamboo tripod.

The innovative and sustainable mobile tripod weighs around 300 grams and its length is expandable up to 4.5 feet. It took around a week to complete the product and it costs only Rs 800.

26-year-old Konsam believes that bamboo craftworks are sustainable and also promotes natural resources available in the state. He started crafting with bamboo as a hobby in 2018 and has now become his passion which he hopes would turn out to be a promising career.
