IMPHAL: In a recent address, Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh reiterated his firm stance against the demand for "separate administration for the Kuki inhabited areas." He emphasized that the state government stands in opposition to any such division. Singh clarified that the government's position is not against the Kuki community itself, with whom the state shares a long history of cohabitation. However, he asserted that strong action will be taken against illegal migrants from Myanmar, highlighting the government's commitment to addressing this issue.

Furthermore, Chief Minister Singh called on his Mizoram counterpart to refrain from interfering in the internal matters of Manipur after the latter participated in a public rally against the violence in the state. During this rally, abusive words were directed at Singh, leading him to condemn such behavior as barbaric. The Manipur Chief Minister emphasized that the state's affairs should be handled within its boundaries without external interference.

The solidarity rally in Mizoram, organized by the influential NGO Coordination Committee and supported by various Mizo organizations, denounced the violence and attacks on the Kuki Zomi communities in Manipur. They also criticized the perceived failure of the Biren Singh government to restore peace. Notably, Mizoram provided shelter to over 12,000 displaced Kuki-Zomis from Manipur, highlighting the ethnic bonds shared between the Kukis and Mizos.

Addressing the rising tension, Chief Minister Singh attributed it to the state government's actions against drug cartels. He emphasized the importance of preserving Manipur's integrity and warned against elements attempting to disrupt it. Singh reaffirmed that the government will not yield to any threats and remains steadfast in maintaining peace and security in the state.

Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh stands firm on the issue of separate administration for Kuki inhabited areas, while also condemning illegal migration. He calls for respect of his state's internal affairs and warns against attempts to compromise Manipur's integrity. The recent solidarity rally in Mizoram reflects the complexity of the situation, with the Kuki-Zomi displacement and the perceived government response coming under scrutiny. As the state grapples with these challenges, Chief Minister Singh emphasizes the government's commitment to addressing the underlying issues and preserving peace and harmony in Manipur.
