Manipur CM Flags Off Two Bike Rallies To Mark 75 Years of Independence

The Manipur CM also said that this is the biggest bike rally ever held in Manipur and he also welcomes the riders who come out in large numbers to participate in a bike ride.

Kohima: Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Sunday flagged off two bike rallies in celebration of 75 years of Independence, from Hapta Kangjeibung to Moirang and Mao.

The rally has been organised by the Home Department and the state police will cover a distance of 105 km.

Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter, Biren Singh said, "As part of #HarGharTiranga movement, flagged off two bike rallies, one heading towards Mao and another heading towards Moirang. I'm glad that a large number of bikers participated in these bike rallies to carry the glorious message of our Tiranga."

Speaking on the occasion, the Manipur CM also said that this is the biggest bike rally ever held in Manipur and he also welcomes the riders who come out in large numbers to participate in a Tiranga bike ride.

As many as thousands of bikers and personnel of Manipur Police are taking part in the motorbike rally which is being conducted to spread messages about India's Independence and people's responsibility toward building unity in the country.

Interestingly, the entire country is celebrating the 75 years of Independence day as from Sher Shah Suri's Tomb in Bihar to Qutub Minar in Delhi, a large number of ASI monuments across India have been turned into a tri-colour theme.

The ASI has shared images, including aerial footage, of some of these sites bathed resplendently in the colours of India ahead of Independence day.

''Har Ghar Tiranga'' campaign was launched by the government this year. While launching the campaign, PM Modi stated, "75 years back, it was on this day that the country adopted its present national flag. Today, we recall the monumental courage and efforts of all those who dreamt of a flag for free India when we were fighting colonial rule. We reiterate our commitment to fulfil their vision and build India of their dreams."
