Manipur CM N. Biren Singh challenges Congress to prove him a liar

Singh says Congress is indulging in cheap politics and if proven a liar will quit politics

Imphal: In a direct challenge to Manipur Congress, Chief Minister N Biren Singh has challenged the party to prove that he is a liar. If proven, Singh said he will quit politics.

Singh was reacting to Congress Party leaders calling him a liar during his election speeches. The CM was addressing a political conference along with the Independent candidate, Lilong AC Abdul Nasir for the upcoming by-poll for Lilong Mairenkhun Chingya seat.

Singh said the Congress party is "power hungry" and accused the party of playing cheap politics.

The Chief Minister said that he can list out all the schemes delivered and initiatives taken for the people of Manipur in the last three-and-half years of his tenure. He also said that BJP have always ensured to wipe off the agony of its people.

Accusing the Congress of 15 years of misrule, N Biren Singh said the Congress authorities believed in "killing as the best option". BJP is making sure that the sufferings of the human beings, communal tension, violence, and killings will end, he said.

The Chief Minister said that the BJP has made remarkable changes in the development sphere like improving the Imphal-Jiribam road which was not motorable during the Congress government's time. Construction of the Barak and Makru bridges are underway. Bus service has been introduced in interior regions, helicopter service has been launched, the Imphal-Moreh highway has been expanded into four lane, Cabinet meetings have been held in hill districts and is no longer restricted to Imphal only, cleared riverbeds to prevent floods, etc.
