Manipur CM N Biren Singh rewards Bishnupur and Thoubal police's crackdown on drug smugglers

Manipur's Thoubal and Bishnupur district's police stations rewarded for confiscating drugs worth Rs 287 crore

Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh has announced a cash reward of Rs 20 lakh and Rs 10 lakh to Thoubal and Bishnupur police stations for their outstanding performance in confiscating illegal drugs.

He also stated that 50 police personnel will be rewarded for gallantry in catching illegal drug smugglers with Rs 20 lakhs to Thoubal police station for 435.945 kgs of brown sugar and Rs 10 lakh to Bishnupur police station for seizing 74 kgs of brown sugar recently.

Manipur police personnel with paramilitary troopers seized 72 kg of brown sugar valued at Rs 287 crore from a hideout in Kamu village of Thoubal district.

The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FCCI) reported that the current rise of the world of smuggling in the North-Eastern region could be a reason for the distress caused by the pandemic lockdown.

The Committee Against Smuggling and Counterfeiting Activities Destroying the Economy (CASCADE) highly lauded the brilliant service of the Manipur police and Assam Rifles in nabbing drug smugglers and busting several rackets.
