Manipur: IPS Officer Suspended For Using Cops For Personal Work

PG Singsit kept four women cops and nine male cops for cooking, washing clothes, and doing other household chores at his quarter.

Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on May 19 ordered to suspend IPS officer for employing police officers for his domestic work at his private residence and the IPS officer was suspended on May 18.

The Manipur personnel and administrative reforms department issued an order to suspend PG Singsit, the commandant of 7BN Manipur rifles, on May 17.

 "On one side, we are demanding more security, manpower to strengthen security, border security, VVIP security. Another side, we got the information that commanding officers, IPS, and others are using cops for their domestic chores. We called a meeting with DG, chief secretary, IG, and other leaders, to discuss the issue," Biren Singh said while speaking to the media.

The Manipur Chief Minister further went on to say that the IPS officer was using 14-15 cops for domestic chores at his house and along with peon, cook, and gardener, he was using 10-12 cops. He was also using 19 cops for making and repairing at his farmhouse.

The CM added that DG and IG were sent to his place and they were stunned to learn that PG Singsit kept four women cops and nine male cops for cooking, washing clothes, and doing other household chores at his quarter.

Biren Singh also spoke to the police officers who were employed at his residence and he revealed that the cops told him that they were forcefully kept there and were not even permitted to go out.

"We have suspended the IPS officer and we will continue this drive. All that I want to say is they have been hired for police work. They should be respected and let them do the work for which they have been hired," the CM concluded.
