Manipur: Myanmar National Nabbed by Assam Rifles for Illegally Entering State

IMPHAL : A Myanmar national was recently arrested for entering the Manipur state through fraudulent means. He was using the Aadhar Card of a dead person while illegally entering the Indian border. The Myanmar man is identified as Lenkhenman Mate of 26 years old and a resident of Tuivang village Myanmar. Lenkhenman was caught by the 37th battalion of the Assam Rifles.

The Myanmar national was impersonating a deceased person, named Holkholal from Manipur. The police official and the Assam Rifles arrested the accused from Khuljang Road, Chakpikarong in the Chandel district. The man from Myanmar was assisted by a resident of Chandel district named, Letminthang Baite who was 30 years old. He allegedly helped the outsider to enter the Indian border, illegally. Letminthang, too, was arrested by the cops from the Khuljang Road. Both of the offenders were later on sent to the Chakpikarong police station for further investigations and actions.

The deputy inspector general of police, Ningshen Worngam stated that the Myanmar nationalist was misusing the aadhar card of Holkholal who was 38 years old and was a resident of Khengjang village. Holkholal died in the year 2019 in the month of May. A case has been registered against both the criminals under pertinent sections of the Indian Penal Code, stated the police officer. The criminals were produced before the chief judicial magistrate of Chandel. Prior to this, they were kept in custody for 8 days.

The police officials had urged all the people not to help any outsider or foreign nationalist enter into our border. This is considered to be a crime which has negative consequences and it is also against the rule of the constitution. 

The incident took place when the police were into a huge drive in order to check the immigrants in the state, according to sources. The CM of the state, Biren Singh has also mentioned about the case by saying that, '' our own people are acting like a threat by assisting the outsiders .''
