IMPHAL: The National Testing Agency which conducts Common University Entrance Test (CUET), has decided to defer Manipur CUET-UG exam to May 29 due to the current situation. On the other hand, on May 21, the second edition of the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) will be administered across the country.

Several students from Jammu and Kashmir and Jharkhand have been taken off guard after being assigned examination sites hundreds of kilometres distant from their homes, despite their choices for a closer location.

In Manipur, which was rocked by unrest earlier this month, the exam has been postponed by a week, and candidates can still request a change of centre. The exam will commence on May 29 in the northeastern state.

In Manipur, there are approximately 3697 candidates who previously chose to appear in Manipur for the CUET (UG) - 2023 test. In conjunction with the state administration, NTA thoroughly assessed the law-and-order situation and contacted these candidates by phone to inquire about their preferred city for the aforementioned examination.

Some candidates who were not in Manipur or who desired to sit the exam in another state/city were sent to other cities such as Delhi, Guwahati, and so on. Candidates from Manipur still have the option of changing centres.

Meanwhile, those candidates who may have got the Admit Card for 21 to 24 May 2023 or the City Intimation Slip for CUET (UG) - 2023 to be held between 25 to 28 May 2023 are required to contact NTA on 011 - 40759000 / 011 - 69227700 or e-mail at cuet-ug@nta.ac.in in case they want to change their City from Delhi, Guwahati, etc. to Imphal.

Furthermore, the number of submissions received this year increased by 41% over the previous year's first edition.

In terms of applicant numbers, CUET-UG remains the country's second-largest admission test. In the first edition of CUET-UG, 12.50 lakh students registered and 9.9 lakh applications were submitted.
