Manipur Violence: Fresh Instance of Firing by Miscreants Reported Kangpokpi District

A new incident of firing by armed miscreants was again reported early on June 29, according to sources, days after Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh informed the Union Home Minister Amit Shah of a considerable improvement in the state's law and order situation.

IMPHAL: A fresh incident of firing by armed miscreants was again reported at around 5.48 am on June 29 according to sources, days after Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh informed the Union Home Minister Amit Shah of a considerable improvement in the state's law and order situation.

According to reports, on Thursday morning, armed criminals with high-tech weaponry attacked Tangnaum and L Munlai hamlet in the Kangpokpi region. There were no casualties reportedly reported. even when there is still shooting nearby.

According to the sources, a Kuki-Zo house in Lamlongei, Heingang, was also destroyed by fire. The insider further stated that on June 27 at around 11 p.m., some unknown miscreants set fire to a building once more. One Kuki-Zo home and one EMP (Eastern Manipur Presbyterian) church can be found at Lamlongei, Heingang (CM Biren Assembly Constituency), following the destruction and theft of all the properties.

Meanwhile, candlelight vigils were staged in West Imphal's Kangla of Manipur by the North East Students Organisation (NESO), the umbrella organisation of eight student groups from seven northeastern states.

The candlelight vigil was held in memory of those who had died as a result of the current upheaval.

Moreover, the state administration of Manipur has been urged by the Manipur Peoples' Party (MPP) to withdraw the internet ban that has been in place since May 4 as a result of the violence.

Speaking to the media, SRO of MPP, K Muktasana, claimed that Manipur's lack of internet access for more than 50 days had caused numerous businesses and educational institutions to fail, which finally resulted in the state's collapse in every sector.
