IMPHAL: On June 14, several miscreants burned down Minister Nemcha Kipgen's residence in Imphal West's Lamphel district of Manipur. According to a source, the event occurred at 6:30 p.m. Nemcha Kipgen is the state's industry minister and one of ten Kuki MLAs who have called for a separate administration. She is a BJP member.

The burning down of a Minister's home is a new act of violence that occurs as an ethnic conflict between the Meitei and Kuki-Zo groups in the state persists.

Meanwhile, on June 13, miscreants opened fire and set arson attacks in the Kangpokpi district's Khamenlok village, leaving a total of 9 people dead and 9 injured. Numerous houses were reportedly burned down in the village of Khamenlok, and numerous people were hurt in the Gobajang neighbourhood of the Tamenglong district.

Security officers continue to patrol high-risk locations in order to prevent a collapse in law and order in the turbulent northeastern state.

Meanwhile, weapons and 63 pieces of ammunition have been found in Tengnoupal and Imphal-East districts in the last 24 hours.

So far, 1040 guns, 13,601 rounds of ammunition, and 230 various types of bombs have been seized, according to Manipur's security advisor, Kuldiep Singh.

Curfews were relaxed in Imphal following the most recent round of tensions. The curfew relaxation period in Imphal East and Imphal West districts has been extended from 5 a.m. to 6 p.m. to 5 a.m. to 9 a.m., according to PTI.

A curfew remains in effect in 11 of Manipur's 16 districts. Internet access has been disabled throughout the state.

The central government has set up a peace commission in Manipur to help ethnic groupings reach an agreement. The group is chaired by Anusuiya Uikey, the state's governor, and comprises Chief Minister N Biren Singh, a few state ministers, MPs, MLAs, and representatives from other political parties.
