IMPHAL: The joint student body in Lamka (formerly known as Churachandpur) organised a silent coffin rally on June 24, 2023, to grieve and remember Kuki-Zo tribal members who lost their lives during the ethnic violence in Manipur.

Thousands of people in all-black attire marched silently for three kilometres along the roadway from the District Hospital mortuary to the Peace Ground in Tuibong, which is close to the Lamka district's mini-secretariat.

In order to symbolise the more than 100 tribal members who have died in the ongoing struggle, participants carried 100 dummy coffins.

Separate administration is still strongly and unwaveringly demanded. It is the only practical way to safeguard our people, maintain our culture, and bring about enduring peace in Manipur.

On the other hand, Manipur's Kuki-Zo protesters were prevented from boarding buses in Munirka that were headed in the direction of the protest site after they announced plans to demonstrate on June 24 at Jantar Mantar, Delhi.

In addition, a bus loaded with demonstrators from Kishangarh was transported to a Delhi police station. On Saturday at 11 a.m., a protest was called for at Delhi's Jantar Mantar, where protesters from all walks of life and civil society representatives were to congregate and voice their opposition to the Manipur issue.

The demonstration that was scheduled to take place today at Jantar Mantar included a total of 42 participants from various organisations and civil organisations.

Since May 3, 2023, ethnic conflict has been raging in the northeastern state of Manipur, which continues to be a divisive and violent place.

The mayhem has so far resulted in at least 73 verified deaths, several homes destroyed, and thousands of displaced people.

Amit Shah, the Union Home Minister, will preside over an all-party meeting in Delhi on June 24 at 3 p.m. to discuss the current Manipur situation.

The Union Minister will probably update the leaders and allies of the Opposition on the existing circumstance, the actions that have been taken, and the actions that need to be taken.
