'Murderer' of nephew held by Imphal West District Police

Imphal West district Police commandos arrested accused Birchandra alias G Molecule Sharma in the alleged shooting case of G Surajkumar Sharma from the Thangmeiband area.

IMPHAL: Imphal West district Police commandos arrested accused Birchandra alias G Molecule Sharma in the alleged shooting case of G Surajkumar Sharma from the Thangmeiband area. The police have also recovered the double barrel used in the crime. He has been handed over Singjamei Police Station.

The key accused reportedly shot to death his own nephew. The victim is 32-year-old GurumayumSuraj Sharma. The accused was on the run after shooting dead his nephew with his licensed double barrel gun on November 22, 2020.

Earlier, Imphal West Duty Magistrate remanded Gurumayum Gita Paras (47), daughter of the murder accused to three days Police custody on the alleged charge of conspiring and witholding the whereabouts of the accused.

The IO (Investigation Officer) of the case submitted in his report that at around 11.30 am G Gope, father of the murder victim lodged a complaint at the Singjamei Police Station against the accused accusing him for the murder of his son, G Surajkumar on November 21.

The house of the accused at Chingamakha Ngakraba Leirak was searched in the presence of witnesses and some documents were seized from the house. Gita was arrested by observing the necessary formalities by women Police personnel. The Police has accused her of not co-operating in the investigation by withholding information on the whereabouts of her father — Molecule. After hearing the report of the IO, the Magistrate remanded Gita Paras to Police custody till November 25.(Agencies)
