25-Year-Old Woman Kidnapped in Meghalaya, Police Assures Stern Action

A 25-year-old woman was abducted from Meghalaya's West Garo Hills district’s Phulbari area. She went missing from the noon of January 16, that is, Saturday

Tura: A woman of 25 years of age went missing from Phulbari in Meghalaya's West Garo Hills district since January 16.

The name of the women has been withheld. Following the incident, the Meghalaya Police have assured to take strict action in the case. The family of the victim has alleged that she has been kidnapped by a man from the neighbouring village.

According to the FIR filed, the incident took place on January 16 around 12 PM. The 25-year-old woman went out of her house, however, sadly, she never returned. The family of the woman has said that she is kidnapped and are fearful of the worst.

In the FIR filed by the victim's family, they have mentioned the name of the accused. They have asked the police to take sought stern and immediate action to return the girl to the family.

The FIR was filed by the grandmother of the victim. The FIR stated that the accused, whom they have named, went missing around the same time the victim went missing from her place. Her grandmother filed the FIR on Sunday at the Phulbari police station in West Garo Hills district of Meghalaya. Following the incident and the filing of the FIR, the Meghalaya Police has promised that they would take immediate steps to ensure that the victim returns to her family as soon as possible.

The Superintendent of Police, West Garo Hills district, Dr MGR Kumar said that he has promised that stern action will be taken in this matter. The case too will be investigated and supervised directly by the SP, Dr MGR Kumar. The matter is being looked at with priority, said the SP. The SP has further appealed to the residents of the area to keep calm, and also allow the police to solve the case at the earliest.
