SHILLONG: Meghalaya on Monday registered eight COVID-19 deaths and 569 new infections, health authorities informed.
The State also recorded 485 new recoveries.
With the latest figures, the number of fatalities has risen to 1,031. There are 5,084 active cases and 55,648 have so far recovered from the virus.
All eight deaths were recorded in the East Khasi Hills district.
Of the 569 new cases, East Khasi Hills district recorded 173, Ri-Bhoi district 85, West Jaintia Hills district 80, West Garo Hills district 74, South West Khasi Hills district 72, West Khasi Hills district 52, East Jaintia Hills district nine, South West Garo Hills district eight, South Garo Hills district and North Garo Hills district six and East Garo Hills district four.
Meanwhile, of the 5,084 total active cases, East Khasi Hills district is the most affected with 1,807, West Garo Hills district 919, Ri-Bhoi district 630, West Jaintia Hills district 550, West Khasi Hills district 335, South West Khasi Hills district 326, North Garo Hills district 140, East Garo Hills district 99, East Jaintia Hills district 97, South West Garo Hills district 92 and South Garo Hills district 89.
