SHILLONG: Minister of Agriculture and MLA of Mawkynrew constituency, Banteidor Lyngdoh on Monday distributed CGI sheets to around 200 residents of the constituency under Mawryngkneng C&RD Block and provided assistance of Rs 5,000 each to 310 farmers. The beneficiaries from 10 villages under Mawryngkneng C&RD Block which includes Madanlangning, Mawpyrshong, Warmatlah, Mawber, Umsawlum, Thadan Maw-U-Saw, Laitkseh, Mawkathein and Umngew village totals to 510 beneficiaries. The CGI sheets distributed to the beneficiaries amounts to Rs 30 lakh, CGI sheets Rs 15 lakh and individual scheme and construction works amounts to Rs 20 lakh which totals to Rs 65 lakh.
Addressing the beneficiaries Banteidor Lyngdoh said “Since the first day I decided to serve the people. My objective is to bring development into the constituency and this is a first step in that direction as this block is lacking behind when compared with other constituencies.”
He also said that there is a need for the people of the constituency to work together with the MLA to achieve maximum success in bringing development to the area.
“I have also placed many developmental proposals with the Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma and I will try to ensure that all these proposals will materialize so that the people of Mawkynrew constituency will benefit,” he said.
He also urged the beneficiaries to utilize the CGI sheets properly and not to keep them in a store room unused.
Lyngdoh said the MLA scheme for the year 2018-19 will also be distributed in the constituency in the coming months.
He also urged those who were unable to receive the MLA scheme this year should be patient and wait for the 2019-20 schemes.
