SHILLONG: The Monitoring-cum-Implementation Committee, 19th South Shillong Constituency, under the presidentship of MLA Sanbor Shullai, organized the annual 'Pre-Christmas and New Year Get-together of Harmony-2019' in the community hall of the RLSSCO at Kench’s Trace here recently.
The programme started with a prayer service on the 147th Death Anniversary of Pa-Togan Nemingja Sangma and paying tribute at his statue located at Kench’s Trace. The occasion was attended by leaders and members of various church committees/religious committees/ Dorbar Shnongs and local NGOs.
Thereafter, the 'Get-Together of Harmony' started with a prayer service conducted by Rev. Pastor P. Marak of the Garo Baptist Church, Bishnupur Kench’s Trace. The Christmas cake was cut and distributed to all members of church committees/ religious committees/ members of the local Dorbar Shnongs and also of various NGOs of the 19th South Shillong Constituency followed by the distribution of financial assistance for Christmas celebration to 14 Church Committees and Religious Committees under the 19th South Shillong Constituency for a total amount of Rs 2,94,000 sponsored by Sanbor Shullai-MLA.
MCIC president Sanbor Shullai also felicitated Aakriti Shen -- a resident of Kench’s Trace Road Bishnupur, for winning the recent Title of 'Miss Shillong 2019' and on being made the 'Brand Ambassador' for the Election Commission of India. During the felicitation, Shullai presented her with a Khasi traditional shawl, gift hampers and a cheque of Rs. 31,000 as a token of love and inspiration and best wishes for her future career. The vote of thanks was delivered by B. Laitmon, chief advisor of RLSSCO.
