SHILLONG: The Anti-Corruption and Human Development Organisation (ACHDO) has expressed concern over the exclusion of women from Meghalaya who are married in Assam from the National Register of Citizens (NRC).
The ACHDO has urged the Meghalaya Government to talk with the Assam counterpart not to harass the women from the state as well as to issue appropriate and acceptable documents in their favour.
“The matter is serious as the genuine and bonafide Indian citizen of Meghalaya has been excluded from the final NRC list and were declared as foreigners rendering them stateless overnight,” the ACHDO president Ishraful Hoque said.
