– NEDF calls for affordable COVID vaccines
SHILLONG: Do not stigmatize, discriminate and ostracize the COVID-19 patients, urged the North East Dialogue Forum (NEDF) even as the organization appealed to the governments to find out ways to ensure that the vaccines — when they are invented — are affordable by all.
Making the appeal, Dr. Rev. PBM Basaiawmoit of the NEDF said in a release, "You may not be your neighbour's keeper; but definitely you can be your neighbour's strength and hope for recovery."
With reference to coronavirus vaccines, the organization said, "We would urge the pharmaceutical companies already in the plan to produce it in million numbers, to consider bringing down the cost; and in so doing, you would be assisting those in need of a cure and act in utmost appreciation for the hard work put in by the dedicated research scientists."
The organization further said, "We would earnestly request to both the Governments of India and China to leave the river Brahmaputra alone; and not make a geopolitical issue out of it for it is the people who have to bear the brunt from its negative outcome."
