TURA: Principal Secretary of Health & Family Welfare, C&RD, P Sampath Kumar, accompanied by the Director of Health & Family Welfare, Dr S. Nongbri and West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner, Ram Singh attended the 'Block War Room' meeting at the 'Multi Facility Centre' at Asanang in Rongram C&RD Block on August 6.
Addressing the meeting, Sampath Kumar highlighted the dangers of COVID-19 and also dwelt on the ways on how the infection spreads in the community.
Cautioning that the unvaccinated people have 100 per cent chances of getting infected, he urged the people to give priority to vaccination. He also urged the VECs (Village Employment Councils) to take responsibility to motivate the people.
On the COVID pandemic and the need to understand the situation, Dr. S Nongbri, asked the people of the area to come forward for vaccination. He said, ''Vaccination is the only shield against the dreaded COVID-19.''
West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner Ram Singh informed that unvaccinated people are spreading virus and even the highly educated people in Tura are not willing to take covid vaccination.
Earlier, the Medical & Health Officers of Asanang and Babadam PHCs highlighted the vaccination status of the Rongram Block.
The BDO, Rongram Block, Shelly Ch Momin, delivered the welcome address and highlighted the importance of vaccination.
