BSF nabs cattle smugglers in Shillong

In order to curb smuggling, BSF troops deployed at border have intensified their vigil to foil nefarious activities of smugglers, BSF official said.

Shillong: The Border Security Force (BSF) on Friday apprehended two smugglers and seized 97 cattle meant for smuggling to Bangladesh.

As per reports, the cattle worth Rs 55 lakhs were loaded in 3 trucks which were intercepted by the BSF troopers deployed at a mobile check post at Sonapur Bridge along the national highway-6 in East Jaintia Hills district.

BSF PRO, UK Nayal informed, cattle smugglers of both sides are trying to strengthen and augment their smuggling activities across the Indo-BD border.

In order to curb smuggling, BSF troops deployed at border have intensified their vigil to foil nefarious activities of smugglers, he said.

The alert BSF troops are devotedly engaged in curbing this menace which post lockdown has suddenly increased in Meghalaya, Nayal stated.

He also added BSF has stepped up its special drive against the illegal intruders and has intensified its operations on the Indo-Bangladesh Border to prevent nefarious design of trans-border criminals to maintain tranquility in bordering areas of Meghalaya.
