BSF observes 'Doctors Day' at CAPF Composite Hospital

SHILLONG: The Meghalaya Frontier BSF observed the 'Doctors Day' at the CAPF Composite Hospital (CAPF CH) here on Wednesday. The 'National Doctors Day' is celebrated on the birth anniversary of renowned physician, philosopher and statesman Dr BC Rai.

The BSF doctors spread all over India in general and along the Indo-Bangladesh border, Meghalaya in particular providing all Medical facilities needed by the local Border population. At a few places on the border, the BSF has established Medicare Centers for the border population where anyone in need of medical attention at any time can approach the authorities of these centres and get the required medicare assistance, stated a release.

The CAPF CH situated in the BSF Campus of Umpling, is providing medicare to all CAPF personnel and their families. All specialized medicare and surgical facilities are available there. Till today, the CAPF CH, Shillong has done more than 110 'Lap Cholecystectomy', more than 75 Caesarian deliveries and arranged more than 25 cataract surgeries. Besides, providing the OPD facility to good numbers of beneficiaries and indoor facility as well, the bed occupancy of this Hospital has already been more than 100%.

Informing this, Dr AC Bhardwajan, Medical Superintendent of CAPF CH, Shillong said that during the present scenario due to COVID-19 pandemic, the team of doctors available at CAPF CH, Shillong are giving their 100% dedicated services to the beneficiaries. We have created not only the Quarantine Center but this Hospital has also been designated as 'Dedicated COVID health centre' by Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) Government of India and the State Government of Meghalaya as well.

Till today, altogether 11 COVID-19 patients have been admitted; out of which one has been discharged after being fully cured and four other patients have been put under isolation after recovery from the COVID-19. In this way, the recovery rate of COVID-19 of this CH is matching the national recovery rate i.e., 59.7%.

Talking about the infrastructure created and facilities provided for fighting against COVID-19, the Commandant Medical of Meghalya Ftr, Dr VS Rajan informed that all precautionary measure have been taken by the BSF to stop the spread of virus. In Meghalaya, the BSF has created 25 quarantine centers in which 1,561 BSF persons were de-quarantined after completion of period and 1,033 BSF persons are presently quarantined in these quarantine centers.
