SHILLONG: The BSF troops are celebrating the Diwali festival inside the campus as well as at the International Border of Meghalaya as most of them could not go to their home owing to the pandemic to celebrate the festival with their family members.

"On this occasion, the BSF jawans appreciated the kind gesture of the members of `MarwadiSammelanMahilaSammitiShillong'. The BSF is very hopeful that this pandemic cannot stop our sisters to visit their brothers anymore; and this practice will continue in the coming days," stated a release.

"Every year, members of the `Marwadi Sammelan Mahila Samiti' Shillong visit the BSF Frontier HQ at Umpling on the eve of `Diwali ' and `Raksha Bandhan' in recognition of the efforts of the 'Sentinels of Border' to show their affection to the jawans of Border Security Force (BSF).

"This year due to the pandemic, our sisters could not visit our campus during RakshaBandhan. "On Saturday also, we missed them on the occasion of Diwali. The BSF jawans understand their limitation due to the pandemic; and the jawans have convey their best wishes to them.

"The BSF also wants to assure the residents of Meghalaya that the borders are safe in the hands of the BSF jawans who are guarding the Indo-Bangladesh border round the clock," added the release.
