SHILLONG: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Thursday reviewed the COVID-19 scene in West Garo Hills at a meeting with officials of the 'COVID Committee' in Tura on Thursday. Soon after the meeting, he also visited three hospitals in Tura town to get a first-hand knowledge on the preparedness of the medical instititions.

Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma said, "We discussed details about the Health infrastructure and also human resources. The overall preparedness is satisfactory. In case the number of COVID-affected patients rises, arrangements are being made at district headquarters in Tura."

On the spurt in COVID cases across the State, he said, ''Much remains to be done. The government will continue its efforts. Cooperation of the masses will go a long way in tackling the pandemic.''

He also said that the government is presently focusing on making vaccines available for the public in general. Referring to the plight of farmers during lockdown, he said, "The farmers can go to the fields for farming if they adhere to the COVID-19 protocols and wear face masks as well as maintain social distancing.
