SHILLONG: With the COVID-19 pandemic-related 'Standard Operating Protocols' (SOP) in place, celebrations on Christmas eve and Christmas will not like the preceding years.
The midnight mass and services that are usually held at different churches will be held with limited attendance. The positive side is that these celebrations can be viewed through the live telecast to be relayed through the local cable channels and the social media during the late night services that are always scheduled from around 9 pm till midnight.
The Shillong Presbyterian Church has already tied up with a local TV cable network to channelise the night sermons from the main church.
While the Catholic Church will have the 'You Tube' channel to reach out to its faithfulls on the night of December 24.
Reverend John Mudur of the 'Mary Help of Christian' told The Sentinel,"The SOP will be adhered to and not more than 400 faitfulls will be allowed during the celebrations."
Besides with very few tourists visiting the city due to the pandemic and the restrictions, Thursday and Friday are bound to miss visitors who enjoyed the Eulitide spirits in the city.
