SHILLONG: National People's Party (NPP) national spokesperson and Returning Officer Abhaya Kashyap on Tuesday announced Chief Minister Conrad Sangma as national president and NPP legislator Thomas Sangma as national general secretary in-charge organization for 2022-25.
However, there was no application for the post of treasurer. Meanwhile, in his Facebook's post, Conrad Sangma said "I am humbled and grateful to be re-elected as national president of the National People's Party. I thank all our party members for reaffirming their trust in my leadership. Each member has a significant role to play in our collective mission as a party. We are stronger together."
The national spokesperson of NPP and the returning officer, Abhaya Kashyap and NPP state president and MP WR Kharlukhi have justified the election of Thomas Sangma as the new national general secretary though he is accused of raping a woman. The case is pending in the High Court of Meghalaya.
