CM Conrad Sangma unveils statue of Lt Archbishop Dominic Jala on his 1st death anniversary

A book and a souvenir on Rev. Dominic Jala were released on the occasion at Mary Help of Christians Cathedral Church, Don Bosco in the city.

To observe the 1st death anniversary of Archbishop Most Rev. Dominic Jala, Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma along with ministers of the state attended a special mass organized in Shillong on Saturday.

The Chief Minister unveiled the statue of the late Archbishop, to honour his service. Sangma took to Twitter saying, ''We acknowledge his immense contributions to #Meghalaya and we honour his service that has enriched the lives of many. May the life and teachings of His Grace continue to inspire us.''

A book and a souvenir on Rev. Dominic Jala were released on the occasion at Mary Help of Christians Cathedral Church, Don Bosco in the city.

On October 10, 2019, Rev Dominic Jala was killed in a car accident in California, United States of America. His death had created shock and gloomy waves across the state of Meghalaya and the Northeast region.

He was appointed Metropolitan Archbishop of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Shillong, India on 22 December 1999 and ordained a Bishop on 2 April 2000. He was appointed Apostolic Administrator of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Nongstoin, India on 15 October 2016.
