SHILLONG: A press conference was held on Wednesday on information sharing and awareness dissemination about BA LLB, BS LLB, and BBA LLB (all five-year dual degree law programmes after Class 12) and the Post Graduate Programme in Law [LL.M. (major in corporate law)], which will commence in July 2023 as the first batch at the National Law University, Meghalaya. Professor Indrajit Dube, Vice Chancellor, National Law University, Meghalaya; Pravin Bakshi, Commissioner and Secretary, Education Department; and E Kharumnuid, Registrar, High Court of Meghalaya, briefed the media at the Meghalaya State Judicial Academy, Tapovan Building, Bivar Road, Shillong.
Talking to newspersons, Professor Indrajit Dube, Vice Chancellor, National Law University (NLU), informed that the academic session of the NLU will commence in July this year, and the students’ online applications have started on April 21, which will end on May 21, and the admission test is slated for May 28. The merit list will be published on June 9, and classes will begin on July 10.
Professor Indrajit Dube also informed that for undergraduate courses, a total of 60 students will be enrolled, with 20 each in BA LLB, BS LLB, and BBA LLB honours, and 10 post-graduate students. He mentioned that the annual fee structure for the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes is much lower than that of private colleges and universities and other national universities, stated a press release.
Informing that 50 percent of the seats in the university are reserved for the domicile residents of Meghalaya, he urged the students and aspiring lawyers of the state to take advantage of the opportunity and get themselves enrolled.
