Coronavirus-induced lockdown in West Garo Hills extended till August 9

The Magistrate of West Garo Hills District has enforced the containment measures in the district from 5 am of August 2 till 5 am of August 9 — with the same restricted and permitted activities as in the earlier order.

TURA: The Magistrate of West Garo Hills District has enforced the containment measures in the district from 5 am of August 2 till 5 am of August 9 — with the same restricted and permitted activities as in the earlier order.

According to the order issued by Magistrate Ram Singh, the shops dealing with essential commodities in the areas of Tura Main Bazar, will continue to open from 8 am to 1 pm everyday. In other parts of the district, such shops will open from 8 am till 4 pm from Monday to Friday.

The non-essential shops, vehicle repairing and services shops are allowed to open from 8 am to 1 pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. All shops will have to display the vaccination status of their staffers, added the order.

The movement of vehicles will continue to follow the odd-even rule — and the local autos and maxi-cabs plying with limited capacity — will have to display the vaccination status of the drivers.

Non-essential movements are discouraged; and, intra-district public transports are allowed to ply with 50% capacity. Those violating the movement protocols or furnishing false self-declaration will be liable for penal action as per law, said the order.

The Central and State government offices in areas under 'Tura Urban' will function from 10 am to 1 pm; while in the other parts of the district, the offices will open from 10 am to 4 pm. Besides the weekend lockdown on Saturdays and Sundays, the 'Corona Curfew' in 'Tura Urban' will be from 2 pm to 5 am; while in other parts of the district, the 'Corona Curfew' will remain from 5 pm to 5 am, stated a press release.
