COVID-19 vaccination for teens starts today in Meghalaya

Meghalaya will would start its COVID-19 vaccination drive for the 15-18 age group from Monday, the Health Department stated on Sunday.

SHILLONG: Meghalaya will would start its COVID-19 vaccination drive for the 15-18 age group from Monday, the Health Department stated on Sunday.

As per a notification of the department, those born before January 1, 2007 are eligible. Registration for the vaccination programme started on Saturday. 'Walk in' facility will be available at designated vaccination centres.

The vaccination drive will be launched at the Rynjah State Dispensary by Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong.

'Precaution dose' drive will start from January 10 for those above 60 years of age, as also healthcare workers and frontline workers who have completed their second dose nine months or 39 weeks ago.

Meanwhile, the State on Sunday recorded eight new COVID-19 cases, while six persons recovered from the virus. As on Sunday, the State has 75 active cases of which 65 are in East Khasi Hills district, six in the West Garo Hills, three in Ri-Bhoi and one in East Jaintia Hills.
