'CRPF men in Northeast COVID-free' Says Inspector General S Upaddhya

SHILLONG: The personnel of the Central Reserve Police (CRPF) posted in the northeastern region are still free from COVID-19, stated Inspector General of the force S Upaddhya during a telephonic talk with this correspondent on Monday.

Following the reported apprehensions by the local people that CRPF men ventured into the local market for groceries and other essentials in Baridu a (9 mile) located along the Ri Bhoi-Kamrup stretch of the State, the Inspector General allayed all fears that the campus has COVID infectious personal.

"Our men who were reported asymptomatic came from Delhi and Srinagar to urgently attend to their family needs", stated Upadhya, adding that the six asymptomatic jawans are at the Gauhati Medical College. They are from Tripura, Nagaland and Assam.

Amidst the panic that was generated that the CRPF men have been loitering around in the market place, the IG said that all our men followed standard protocols.
