Shillong: Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills District, M War Nongbri on Friday launched “Operation Zero Litter”, a joint collaboration of Shillong Municipal Board and Home Guards/Civil Defence, at Khyndai-Lad, Shillong. The objective of the operation is to achieve a zero-litter Khyndai-Lad within 30 days from the start of the operation.
Addressing the launching programme, DC M War Nongbri said the initiative needs to be taken in the right earnest to keep Khyndai-Lad area litter free. “There is a need for a collective effort of all the stakeholders and public at large in this endeavour. We need to put a little bit of effort and help each other out to make this programme a success,” she said.
CEO, Shillong Municipal Board, BS Sohliya hoped that the programme will have tangible and concrete results in the days to come. He also said depending on the success, the programme will later be spread out to other spots in the city.
Officials from the Home Guards & Civil Defence, Shillong Municipal Board and Meghalaya Bharat Scouts & Guides were present at the programme.
