Doctor at NEIGRIHMS arrested on molestation charge

A medical practitioner at the NEIGRIHMS was arrested for allegedly molesting two female patients

SHILLONG: A medical practitioner at the North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS) was arrested on Friday for allegedly molesting two female patients. The accused doctor has been identified as Dr Jhutan Choudhury (31) of the General Medicine Department. He was arrested following an FIR filed by the two patients last night at Rynjah police station, East Khasi Hills district, SP Claudia Lyngwa told The Sentinel. The SP said that the accused was produced in court and remanded to 14 days in judicial custody. The two women had gone to the hospital yesterday morning and they did not muster courage to inform their family members till late in the evening, according to family sources till they broke the news about the trauma. The case has also come to the notice of the Meghalaya State Women Commission.
