SHILLONG: A panel of medical experts from Meghalaya has said that the second wave of COVID-19 infection in the State will become critical if the people do not follow the prescribed SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures). Speaking on a live TV and social-media discussion, the experts sought to deliver the message about the precautions that must be taken by to the people to avoid the surge of the virus that has multiplied in the past few days.
On Saturday itself, a total of 262 cases were reported and the spike is alarming, said the Director of Health Services (DHS), Dr Aman War during the discussion
The live discussion was attended also by traditional heads and religious leaders at the State Convention Centre here on Saturday.
Stressing that vaccination is safe, the panel of medical experts urged the masses to go for vaccination. The medical experts also said that the vaccination for people between 18-44 could not be undertaken since the vaccine has not reached the State.
"We will get the vaccine in four weeks' time," added Dr Laloo -- an expert in the panel.
