Shillong: Meghalaya Chief Secretary Y Tsering on Wednesday said that GeM (Government e-Marketplace) will make public procurement simpler and transparent.
The Chief Secretary was speaking at the launch of the GeM held at Yojana Bhavan, Main Secretariat Building, Shillong.
Tsering also said that GeM will also provide a platform for all the startup entrepreneurs, Self Help Groups and vendors of the state to promote and sell their products.
The Chief Secretary also called upon the state government departments to sensitize the people about this facility and to encourage them to take advantage of the platform by registering themselves with the portal.
GeM is the National Public Procurement Portal to facilitate online procurement of common Goods & Services required by various Government Departments/Organizations/PSUs. GeM aims to enhance transparency, efficiency, and speed in public procurement.
It provides the tools of e-bidding, reverses e-auction and demand aggregation to facilitate the government users, achieve the best value for their money.
Later a training programme on GeM for departmental secretaries and heads of departments was held.
The training programme for Drawing and Disbursing Officers/Master Trainers including Finance Personnel and Vendors/MSMEs/CSCs will go on till September 21 wherein topics namely: Buyers’ Training on GeM-Introduction on GeM, GFR Rules and Special Terms and Conditions, Creation of Primary Users and Secondary Users, Modes of Purchases on GeM, Generation of CRAC and Payment on GeM, will be covered.
