SHILLONG: The HITO (Hynñiewtrep Integrated Territorial Organization) has urged Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma to increase the upper age limit for the candidates aspiring to build their careers in the government sector.

Pointing out that while an extreme shortage of government jobs has already posed a challenge for the aspiring career-seeking youths of the State, the organisation said that many candidates are also encountering the problem of 'age limit' due to the delay or postponement in academics, career and examinations on account of the ongoing pandemic scene. "We request the urgent attention of the Chief Minister in this regard," said HITO president Donbok Dkhar.

He informed that on September 14, 2014, the Government of Karnataka increased the upper-age limit of candidates appearing for gazetted probationers of the 'Karnataka Administrative Service' examination by two years.
