SHILLONG: Aiming to build on action research, and implementation of models of sustainable development by engaging with key stakeholders in the tourism industry, the Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Centre for Policy Research & Analysis under the aegis of IIM Shillong will be holding the much awaited e-symposium on Tourism (Opportunities in NER) under the e-Symposia Series on Emergent North East India: Strategic and Developmental Imperatives.
Prahlad Singh Patel, Minister of State (Independent Charge) Ministry of Culture & Tourism, will be gracing the e-symposium on tourism as chief guest amidst the presence of senior officials of Tourism departments of north-eastern states of India.
Following this, Jishnu Debbarma, Deputy Chief Minister of Tripura will present the valedictory address during the technical session on "Opening up of Opportunities in NER" to be moderated by Atul Kulkarni.
The session is expected to witness the presence of government officials and entrepreneurs from various Northeast States as speakers.
The expected outcome of the e-symposia series is to contribute to the knowledge body and publish a series of reports on the current status, challenges, opportunities and policy recommendations for North East India.
The e-symposium on tourism would assist the Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Centre in shaping its efforts in policy research and analysis in the key areas of development planning, policy formulation and strategizing. Discussions, deliberations and creative engagements during the e-symposium would help the States of the North-east and the implementing agencies to gain ideas for further improving on the planning and execution of projects, promoting innovations, and implementation in tourism.
