TURA: West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner Ram Singh launched the Intensified Mission Indradhanush 4.0 in the district at the Chitoktak Community Hall here on Monday in the presence of the Additional DM&HO, District Immunization Officer, other health officials, Anganwadi Workers and the local community leaders, stated a press release.
The Deputy Commissioner, while launching the mission, highlighted the importance of the Intensified Mission Indradhanush and said that immunization is the only way for the mothers and their children to stay disease free and urged the NGOs and the local bodies to appeal to the parents to get their children immunized. Saying that it is not only the responsibility of the mothers to take care of the children's health, the Deputy Commissioner also appealed to the fathers to share the responsibilities with the mothers. The District Immunization Officer (DIO), Dr Ivonne M Sangma, while highlighting the aims and objectives of the Intensified Mission Indradhanush, said that this is the fourth mission with a target of achieving immunization for 1,402 children in the age group of 0-2 years and 295 pregnant mothers in 176 sessions in the district. Informing that this year only three districts have been selected in Meghalaya for Intensified Mission Indradhanush with West Garo Hills being one of them, the DIO said that the district is very fortunate and urged the parents to get their children immunized in time.
