Shillong: Ahead of the general elections and by-election to the 48-Selsella LAC, the District Election Officer, West Garo Hills, convened a meeting on Tuesday at his office chamber with all the mobile internet service providers of the region to discuss the issue of poor network connectivity in the area.
During the meeting, the DEO Ram Singh directed all the mobile internet service providers and network operators to ensure uninterrupted services especially during the election period in the entire Garo Hills region which needs to be intensified from April 6 to 12 in order to facilitate the smooth conduct of the elections.
He also mentioned that good network connectivity is necessary for functioning of various election related apps like CcVigil, etc., used during election and added that the issue of connectivity should not hamper the process of election in the districts.
Further, he instructed them that all mobile towers and other related ancillary services should function without ceasing and must make an effort to provide good network connectivity.
Moreover, he had also instructed them to submit written action plan and assurance to the Deputy Commissioner’s office by April 5.
The Superintendent of Police, WGH, Dr MGR Kumar and representatives of mobile and internet service providers of the region were present at the meeting.
