SHILLONG: A special campaign titled ‘Khadi Mahotsav’ with the tagline ‘Khadi for Nation, Khadi for Fashion’ is being celebrated from this year onwards across the country from October 2 to October 31.
The objective of the Khadi Mahotsav is to promote Khadi and Village Industries, Handloom and Handicraft products, ODOP products and products of various traditional and cottage industries manufactured locally and to further promote the idea of ‘Vocal for Local’ campaign and ‘Atma Nirbhar Bharat Abhiyan’ envisioned by the Prime Minister.
On this occasion, State Office, Khadi & Village Industries Commission, Shillong (Meghalaya) conducted various programmes like seminar, Khadi Yatra, Khadi Charcha and Khadi Pledge at Gandhi Buniyadi Secondary School, Pynthorumkhrah, Shillong wherein the principal along with the faculty members participated. During the seminar, Mange Ram, State Director, Khadi & Village Industries Commission, Shillong presented the various schemes of KVIC and also interacted with the students in the context of Khadi Charcha.
A total number of 90 students, including the faculty members of Gandhi Buniyadi School, participated in the Khadi Yatra, stated a press release.
